Know God

Who Really Loves Me?

The Bible tells us that God loves us. In John 3:16 it says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.“ There are a few facts that are unique about the love that God has for each one of us.

First of all, the word love here speaks of an unconditional love. This means that there are no conditions that first have to be met in order for Him to love me. He loves me and I never have to do anything to earn it. 1 John 4:10 says, “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.“ It gives me great comfort in knowing that Jesus loves me just because I am me.

Second, He demonstrated His love by sending His own Son to die for me. This gives me great assurance because He was willing to give the greatest sacrifice in order to have a personal relationship with me for all eternity.

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all,
then all died;
” (2 Corinthians 5:14).

To Receive Christ do the following:

Admit, “I am a sinner.”
Confess and be willing to turn from your sin.
Believe, by faith that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross.
Receive, through prayer, Jesus Christ into your heart and receive eternal life.

Pray, with a sincere heart, something like this…

Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me for my sins and cleanse me by Your blood. I accept You by faith as my personal Lord and Savior. Give me a thirst for Your Word and Help me to follow You all of my days. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

What have you just done?

By accepting Jesus into your life as your personal Lord and Savior, you have established a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Before confessing Him by faith, you were an enemy of God because your sins had separated you from Him.

The Bible says, “Your iniquities [sins] have separated you from your God… “ (Isaiah 59:2). Now, by asking Jesus into your heart, you are free from the bondage of sin and are under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Before accepting Jesus you were ruled by sin, but now the Spirit will rule you. Romans 8:5 says, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”
